Recently, the World Health Organization released an announcement stating the discouragement of the public seeking essential dental care during the pandemic. We, along with the Academy of General Dentistry and the American Dental Association, do not agree with this statement. Following the guidelines put in place by the ADA, Florida's dental board, and CDC, we have been able to safely see our patients for routine visits, restorative treatments, and emergency care. Delaying a visit could cause long-term issues and exasperate health problems. See below some of the guidelines we are following or speak with us to learn more about how we are protecting our patient's health during this pandemic.
We have had quite a few questions as to why we require you to wear a mask at our office. Interim Infection Prevention and Control Guidance for Dental Settings were released by the CDC 04/27/2020.
The guidelines state:
•To address asymptomatic and pre-symptomatic transmission, implement source control (require face masks or cloth face coverings) for everyone entering the dental setting (dental healthcare personnel [DHCP][ 1 ] and patients), regardless of whether they have COVID-19 symptoms.
•Actively screen everyone on the spot for fever and symptoms of COVID-19 before they enter the dental setting.
•Actively screen DHCP on the spot for fever and symptoms before every shift.
Additionally, we are asking you to sanitize your hands when you arrive. We are doing our very best to protect you and our team members. Thank you for your cooperation and understanding!
